When possible match the existing house roof pitch when designing cabana roof

Foundation

Use Footings With A Pedestal and Pratt Post Base in the following conditions:
The structure is a cabana
The structure is freestanding
The structure does NOT have angle brackets
The posts are not wrapped with a cladding such as Hardie Board trim.
The posts will be marine grade and embedded in that case.

Dark stain can be used on marine grade as well

Exposed rafters do not work with LVL’s wrapped in hardie
Purlins are not required for Thatch Roofing. Especially avoid using purlins with round timber rafters. You will need a runner at the bottom of the rafters.
