Note that some inspectors will require 4” between siding and hardscape
Pavers and Tile
Notes
All landings, decks, and balconies that are more than 30 above grade at any point within 36” of the edge require a building permit and guardrails
Separate paver border color is an upgrade. Let the client know about cost difference if you depict the border as a different color than field. Also inform color selection staff.
Pavers
Minimum threshold drop required for standard pavers is 5".
Standard Thickness = 2 3/8"
Remodelers = 1"
Driveway Paver Thickness = 4" (Larger pavers such as Park Plaza require 4" thickness)
Avoid mixing standard and remodeler pavers because colors often do not match. Incorporate an accent color border if it is not possibile to use all standard or all remodelers. Add note "color match between standard and remodeler pavers can not be guaranteed" to renderings if client chooses to mix.
Borders
Do not automatically spec out 9” border for all projects. Verify standard sizes for selected product first.
For a lot of Tremron products 6"x9" borders are used when edges are hidden due to the unfinished sides.
For a lot of Tremron products 8"x12" caps are used for the borders when edges are exposed due to the finished sides of the caps.
Tile
Standard Thickness = 3/4"
Coping
Travertine Coping & Pavers are always 1 1/4” thick
Shellstone is 1 1/8” thick
Marble Pavers
Only marble pavers from Paramount are 1” thick. The coping materials that we use from paramount do vary though, they could be 1”, 1-1/4”, or 2” thick.
