By default we use (1) skimmer per 300 sq. ft. of pool area. Use (1) skimmer per pool if there is screen enclosure or if the pool area is under 300 sq. ft..
Add (1) skimmer for any partial 300 sq. ft. area. For example 750 sq. ft. would require (3) skimmers
Placement notes:
Default placement - house side, deep end. Can be on the shallow side, but keep away from the steps
Do not place on exposed pool beam
Do not place over steps
Ideally, do not place over tanning ledge. Can fit skimmer over tanning ledge if there is nowhere else to put them. However, the tanning ledge may need to be slightly deeper than normal.
You can place skimmer above a bench
Maintain at least 30 inches from wall to center of skimmer opening
Negative edge pools don’t need a skimmer
When our clients are upgrading to a natural stone paver patio, we need to make it our standard that all skimmer covers are to be the natural stone. Not the plastic skimmer covers. Little details like this will help set us apart.
